511 Waxahachie households participated in the resident survey. It was designed by experts to identify household and community challenges. Dozens of community leaders were also interviewed in the research process.
The chart to the right shows the overall findings from the research. As you can see, the number one challenge for households is "making ends meet," with almost one quarter of Waxahachie residents citing "financial need" as their top concern.
Many of the top needs expressed by leaders had to do with the awareness and engagement of community members. In the chart to the left, you can see the breakdown of the top challenges of non-profit organizations in Waxahachie. In the public sector (government and education), the number one expressed need is to "improve/strengthen current partnerships."
The fact that crime showed up as a top concern baffled many leaders in the community. Check out this snippet from the report that has some really good news about Waxahachie.
Here's a word cloud of the most frequently mentioned strengths/needs. The larger the word, the more frequently that particular item was mentioned.
